| It is great to hear how former members are getting on and in particular what they are doing musically (we do know that GCC isn't the only choir in the universe!) so here is some information which has been passed our way. If you used to sing with the choir then we would love to hear where you are and what you are doing now and we promise only to put up information with your permission. | |

Chris is an enthusiastic singer both in the choir and solo. 2004 brought spectacular successes at the Greenock and Glasgow Music Festivals where he took first prizes across a range of competition classes from Opera to Songs from the Shows, from Baritone solo to Recital. He is particularly pleased with winning the Glasgow Grand Opera Society Challenge Trophy. He sings small ensemble works with members of the solo quartet Quodlibet and organises GL&AS, the Glasgow Lieder and Art Song Club, a forum where amateur singers, players and listeners gather to enjoy song and to encourage each other's perfoming. Visit Chris at his home page.

Katie Bamber When Katie joined the she was one of three sopranos with very similar names and we were suspicious that our music director was auditioning on name as well as voice so that no one would notice if he gets a name wrong. |

Fiona Campbell Fiona studied music at Glasgow University and is also a member of the University Chapel Choir. She has a singing performance diploma and has appeared as a soloist with the choir both at home and abroad. On a memorable occasion in Marseille, she carried off with cool professional aplomb the demise of a fine Baroque organ mid-aria, insisting on starting all over again with another instrument that worked! In the previous blurb she claimed her day job was too unbelievably boring to mention, which must have been true since she gave it up to start her own business as a wedding music consultant: Hark! Wedding |

Marion Carson Marion is a lecturer in theology with a particular interest in mental health issues and church-based outreach to drug addicts and the homeless. She relaxes by singing with the choir and is one of our longest-standing members. |

Jennie left at the end of the 2003-4 season after six years in the choir to move to the far East (Edinburgh) where inexplicably she has remained. We still hope she will see the light and come back! Jennie’s choral career began when she joined the choir of St Saviour’s church, Bridge of Allan at the age of eleven. After a break for A levels, University and career, Jennie rediscovered singing in her mid twenties and joined the Chamber Choir soon after. Jennie is an arts marketer by profession and is a keen hill-walker amongst other things. |

Phil Hotham A former music teacher, Phil can't decide if he is a tenor or a bass and nor can we having pressed him into service on both parts as the need arises. |

Chris Hutchings Chris is a composer and postgraduate music student at Glasgow University, whose works and arrangements have been performed by various choirs, including GCC. More information (and some free arrangements) can be found at www.hutchingsmusic.co.uk. |

Lynsey studied music at the RSAMD and sang with GCC until work commitments took her elsewhere. A highlight of her time with the choir was singing in the soprano duet "De torrente in via bibet" in Handel's Dixit Dominus (at least it was a highlight for the rest of us - we assume it was for Lynsey too!) |

Gavin King-Smith Makes pottery and micro hydro-electric schemes in the Southern Uplands but spent much of the week travelling to and from the Thursday GCC rehearsal, the only place he is allowed to try out his bottom B (which is not a patch on Noel’s). After 10 years in the choir and untold amounts of diesel he decided that it was time to spend more time at home and not on the road. |

Sue King-Smith Sue along with husband Gavin were our furthest flung members travelling
from Dumfriesshire every week which showed great dedication, a large diesel
bill and a certain degree of madness. She has no music credentials (surrounding
singers will confirm this) so likes to bother people with pronunciation
suggestions, in recognition of a life spent thinking about the way people
say things. Sue says that although she often got credit for helping with
getting and distributing music, all the actual work was done very efficiently
by Liz and Gavin. |

Kat MacNeill Kat wasn't in the choir for long before taking on the Administrator responsibility. Unfortunately for us she has moved on to try her hand (and voice) at other musical styles. We still hope to see her at concerts though! |

[No photo - yet!] Tina was the first former member to email us: "I was a member (Soprano) of the Chamber Choir between 1997-2000 whilst I was at Glasgow University. Since then I have sung with the Choir of Jesus College Cambridge and currently I am in the Lichfield Cathedral Chamber Choir, The Rigware Cantamus and every summer with Musica Deo Sacra at Tewkesbury Abbey." |

Gordon was the co-founder of the choir and was administrator for 10 of the 11 years he sang with us before taking some time out. He was also the designer of many of our (we think) excellent posters down the years. He isn't always as happy looking as this ;-)

Nicky Suckle One of Nicky's other hobbies is scuba diving but, as far as we know, she doesn't combine it with singing (but we could be wrong!) |

Kendra Toler-Young Kendra is joining us from the U.S.A. She makes a living by working in the insurance world in Glasgow city centre, but her passion is music. Kendra has been singing and playing instruments since a very young age. She's travelled all over the U.S. and Europe through singing and hopes to continue the trend throughout her life. She was trained classically at Missouri State University, and ended her time there in 2007 with a bachelor's degree in vocal performance. Aside from singing, Kendra's interests include some of the following: talking, acting, dancing, fashion, shopping, event planning, cooking, baking, travelling, learning foreign languages, medical research, and sociology. Needless to say, she still doesn't know what she wants to be when she 'grows up'. |

Clyde has swapped singing in GCC for singing to his daughters in the
bath to let Mum get to choir practise. What a 90s man (too bad it is not
the 90s any more!)

When David took over as Administrator of the choir the webteam was very concerned because we had been asking him for a biography for this page since around the time the Romans left Britain (they've gone?). We warned him that we would write something ourselves, possibly after a glass of wine or two but he didn't listen hence this spiel. A job following his PhD has unfortunately taken him away from Glasgow. |
